Essex and Suffolk Wedding and Portrait Photography – pre wedding photo shoot in Halstead Essex by Wedding Photographer – Tony Sale

 

Halstead Public gardens set in rural North Essex is an excellent location for a pre wedding photo shoot. It is a truly beautiful public gardens with lots of colourful flower beds, magnificent specimen trees, traditional wooden benches a picturesque pond and a band stand.

I met up there with Joy and Sam one Saturday morning a few weeks ago to do a pre wedding photo shoot, this was a great opportunity for the three of us to get to know each other before their wedding at Hedingham Castle in a few weeks time. It was one of those glorious days when the sun was shining and all around was peaceful and calm, there was a little cloud cover and all in all it was a great day for photography.

Joy and Sam are a fantastic couple who only live a fairly short distance away on the other side of Halstead. Sam in particular is quite a character with his Mohican haircut, goatee beard and his pierced ears.  They were both really enthusiastic and totally immersed themselves in the photo session. After a while we had a few members of the public watching what was going on and I think Joy and Sam really enjoyed the attention.

Family Portrait Photography by Essex Wedding and Portrait Photographer Tony Sale

A few weeks ago I was asked by Graham to take to take some portrait photographs of his wife Anne to mark a very special birthday celebration. If I remember rightly she was going to be 50 very soon (but I think he must have been making that up, she certainly didn’t look that old).

Graham and Anne are both in excellent shape, very slim and athletic and both keep themselves very fit, training in karate several times each week.  (perhaps that’s why they look so young. They have recently returned to the UK from  New Zealand, where they lived for a number of years and are currently staying in the picturesque market town of Braintree in north Essex. They joined me for the morning in my photographic studio in Gosfield only a few miles away.

Before diving straight in to taking photographs we spent a few minutes discussing the format of the shoot and the types and styles of photographs we / they wanted to achieve. It was decided to go for a mix of fairly formal studio portraits followed by some more relaxed outdoor portraits in a nearby local park.

The shoot went very well and we came away with a broad collection of different images, I have produced a selection of these below.

Teenage portraits – a Studio photo shoot by Essex wedding and portrait photographer Tony Sale

A few weeks back I shot a studio photo session at my home based photography studio in Gosfield north Essex. On this occasion I had student photographer Becca Sidhu with me who was looking to develop her portfolio and to learn something about studio portrait photography including lighting and posing techniques. If you follow my blog you will know that Becca has photographed with me before when we photographed models Emma and Jade and produced some exciting environmental portraits on a shoot around Gosfield. You can see those photo here

On this occasion we were photographing model Emma again but this time it was along with her friend Nina. The plan was to shoot some high key portraiture but to also then apply some post production portrait re touching techniques, smoothing skin, enhancing eyes etc. The ultimate goal to was to produce some stunning beauty portraits / fashion style portraits.

The shoot went really well, Emma and Jade were great and really got in to the whole modelling thing, they bought a couple of changes of clothing and were brilliant at posing and following directions, although Nina did occasionally get a fit of the giggles. (But that’s ok it kept us all amused)  We worked through a number of different posing and lighting set ups and came away with what I thought were some pretty good portraits.

I have produced a selection of images from the shoot below and will look to add some other at a leter date – stay tuned!

Essex event Photography – Photographing the Honeywood School Sixth Form Prom at the – Colne Valley Golf Club Earls Colne Essex.

I was recently asked by the local media to photograph the Honeywood School 6^th form prom which was held at the Colne Valley Golf Club, in Earls Colne. Like ‘The Essex’ the venue mentioned in my previous post, The Colne Valley Golf Club is also a very popular location for school proms and leavers balls. It’s also a popular venue for Essex Weddings with a number of large function rooms and a beautiful patio area overlooking the Colne Valley.

It was a great evening, with students arriving in various modes of transport, including, a fire engine, double decker bus and horse drawn carriage. Students had gone to a lot of effort in their dress and all of them were finely turned out for the ball. Most of the guys were in smart suits and some of the dresses worn by the girls were both colourful and stunning.

It’s also a popular venue for Essex Weddings with lots of large function rooms and a beautiful conservatory.

I have to say it was a great evening, all of the students had gone to a lot of effort in their dress and all of them looked befitting for the ball. Most of the guys were in suits and some of the dresses worn by the girls were absolutely stunning.

Family Portrait Photography – Halstead Essex

I was recently commissioned to take some family portrait photographs to mark a 60th Birthday celebration. However not only was it the ‘mums’ birthday celebration it was also a family reunion as it was a fairly unique opportunity for all the family members to get together all at the same time, people had travelled from across Essex and from as far away as Surrey.
There were 12 people in all, as well as three dogs who wanted to get in on the act. What they wanted was some photographs of all of them together but also some individual family / children shots.
We started with some fairly formal group shots inside before going out in to the garden and doing some more informal fun stuff.

Pre wedding photo shoot – Stock Brook Manor

A couple of weeks ago I completed a pre wedding photo shoot at Stock Brook Manor located between Bilericay and Stock in Essex.

I have completed a number of pre wedding shoots over the years and all of them are special in their own way, but I have to say this one really was a little bit different than all of the rest – different that is in that only one of the ‘happy couple’ turned up.

Unfortunately and at short notice Ben was unable to make it and rather than cancel Jane came along on her own.  Although it seemed a little strange at first, as I had prepared myself to be photographing a couple, we actually had a great shoot.

When I had met Jane previously she told me she didn’t like to be photographed and that she felt awkward in front of the camera. In fact that’s one of the reasons for planning this pre wedding photo shoot, to teach her how to pose and to feel relaxed in front of the camera.

The shoot was a great success, Jane did start off a little apprehensive  and a little unsure of herself however she very quickly grew in confidence and towards the end was clearly enjoying it; and  we produced some very beautiful very natural portrait shots.
